My life journey has prepared me to be a caring and conscientious counselor, coach, and trainer.

In terms of academic and clinical training, I am trained in various evidence-based practices for mental health intervention. I am an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Psychiatry. I am simultaneously a researcher and clinician at the Kennedy Krieger Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress. I specialize in culturally-tailored intervention (www.poof-pullingoutoffire.com). I have a B.A. in Psychology, a Master's in Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Social Welfare from UCLA. I have been licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years, with many years of experience in mental health clinical practice and administration. Spiritually, I am an authentic Christian (with ministry experience since 2002).  Thus I am in tune with those who desire a counseling or coaching experience that takes their Christian faith into account.
